Possibly extinct mammals

Less than 8 months after the launch of the EDGE programme the number one EDGE mammal, the Yangtze River dolphin, or baiji, was declared possibly extinct. Comprehensive surveys carried out in November 2006 failed to find any evidence that the species has survived the massive human impact on the degraded Yangtze river system.

The EDGE mammals below may already be extinct. If not, they are likely to be in urgent need of conservation attention.  Time is running out for these species, so please let us know if you can do anything to help.
