EDGE Project
John’s project aims to reassess the extinction risk and propose conservation actions for three species of Podocarpus in Brazil.
His objectives are to:
- Revise the taxonomy of three species of Podocarpus endemic to the Brazilian Atlantic Forest.
- Determine the potential distribution of the three species of Podocarpus endemic to the Brazilian Atlantic Forest.
- Assess the threats to the three Podocarpus species endemic to the Brazilian Atlantic Forest.
- Reassess the extinction risk of the three species nationally and globally.
- Create a network of researchers working with conifers in Brazil.
- Propose conservation actions for the two threatened species of Podocarpus from the Atlantic Forest.
