Biography
Rodolfo gained an MSc in Ecology, Conservation and Management of Wildlife at the Federal University of Minas Gerais. During his MSc he also acted as a technical consultant for various projects in the area, such as the impact of wind farms on threatened species in northeast Brazil.
Rodolfo is looking forward to gaining experience in applied ecology and biodiversity conservation techniques. In addition, meeting other Fellows from around the world he feels will be of benefit in exploring ways to overcome challenges and difficulties that they may face.
EDGE Project
Rodolfo’s project aims to provide the effective conservation of a recently discovered population of the Brazilian three-banded armadillo by better understanding its biology and developing participatory conservation actions.
His objectives are to:
- Assess the distribution and population size of T. tricinctus and the factors affecting them;
- Estimate population size of T. tricinctus in Sumidouro;
- Assess the factors influencing fine-scale habitat use by T. tricinctus in Sumidouro;
- Develop an action plan for the conservation of T. tricinctus in Sumidouro;
- Trial a citizen-science programme to collect data on T. tricinctus in Sumidouro;
- Assess the ethnobiology of T. tricinctus in Sumidouro;
- Publicize information about T. tricinctus and the EDGE project.
