Calling all Toad Enthusiasts

By on September 2, 2011 in Amphibians, EDGE Updates, Uncategorized

A fundraising evening chaired by Mike Dilger from BBC’s One Show and Peter Firmin creator of Bagpuss.

Join EDGE and Froglife on Friday September 30th to enjoy an evening of talks from the frontlines of amphibian conservation. But it is not all just about talks; there’ll be plenty of time for mingling, buying drinks from the bar, enjoying a toad-themed art exhibition, and maybe being lucky enough to win the raffle.

Mark your calendars and get your tickets to dive into the fascinating world of toads, and help raise funds for their conservation. Let BBC’s wildlife expert Mike Dilger guide you through a series of exciting talks from experts discussing toad and amphibian conservation. Meet our special guest speaker Peter Firmin, illustrator and animator from Small Films who will talk about his experience creating Gabriel, the Toad for Bagpuss.

Also on the menu:

  • Find out all about the Toads on Roads project from Sam Taylor and watch John Walker’s film about being a Toad Patroller.
  • Get a global perspective on amphibian conservation from Roger Dowie
  • Cross over into the Twilight Zone with Helen Meredith’s exploration of EDGE Toads.
  • Join Pete Minting to learn about toad science and conservation working together.
  • Toads through Time: a mini exhibition exploring toad cultural imagery. From giant toads to Mr Toad, encounter photos and reproductions of the toads we have loved through the ages.

…And don’t miss the raffle for a chance to win prints from toadographer Dennis Low and other goodies.
