Run for EDGE and be a Champion!

By on May 12, 2008 in EDGE Updates, Uncategorized

The EDGE Team were very excited earlier this year to hear that two enthusiastic runners completed the London Marathon for the EDGE Project. We are always delighted to hear that individuals are keen to raise money to help with conservation of EDGE species, and are very grateful to EDGE Champions Eric (below) and Ed for their incredible effort!

If you are feeling fit and want to be the next EDGE Champion, then another running opportunity has come along – ZSL has some guaranteed places on offer for the British 10K London Run, and all the money raised will go towards EDGE conservation projects!

The British 10K takes place on Sunday 6 July 2008 and follows a fantastic route through the heart of London, past some of the capital’s most well-known landmarks including the London Eye, Houses of Parliament and St Paul’s Cathedral.

So if you would like to run for EDGE you can apply for a ZSL charity place and support much needed conservation of the world’s most distinctive threatened creatures.

Runners are asked to raise £150 in sponsorship and to pay a registration fee of £25. All runners will receive a ZSL race pack, support throughout your training, and a ZSL T-shirt to help with your sponsorship.

To apply, post a completed application form to Lucy Cannock, Development Department, ZSL, London, NW1 4RY, or email Lucy for more information at

If you already have a place for the run then we would still love to have you as part of the ZSL team running for EDGE, so please do get in touch with Lucy to find out how.

The Zoological Society of London has also teamed up with so that you, and anyone taking part in a fundraising event, can easily raise money for EDGE online through your own webpage. Family and friends can donate online by credit or debit card and also automatically reclaims any Gift Aid due on ZSL’s behalf. Alternatively, you can support EDGE by clicking here.
